  The Spirit of the Game is UCSF Recreational Sports' own standards for excellent sportsmanship and consistent fair play. It ensures that our programs are enjoyable, friendly, and respectful for everyone who plays. The Spirit of the Game includes playing within the spirit of the rules, harboring good will toward opponents and officials, and accepting responsibility for victories and defeats. 2 HOW MANY TIMES A YEAR ARE RECREATIONAL SPORTS LEAGUES PLAYED? back to top
 We offer leagues four times a year (each academic quarter). Fall leagues begin in October, Winter leagues start in January, Spring leagues kick off in April, and Summer leagues open in July.
3WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN DROP-IN SPORTS?back to top
  All our drop-in sports (Volleyball, Futsal, Badminton, Squash, Table Tennis, Women's Basketball and Basketball) are open to the Students, Members and the General Public. Those who are not students or Fitness & Recreation Centers members must purchase a drop-in sports card at the Service Desk for one visit for $10 or 5 visits for $40. All Drop-in Sports card can be used during any drop-in sports and at both facilities.

  Recreational Sports provides balls (including basketballs, futsal balls, table tennis, volleyballs , Racquetball and squash racquets) and badminton rackets and birdies free of charge.
5 WHAT ARE LEAGUE CARDS AND HOW DO I GET ONE? back to top
  League cards are issued to employees and non-members of UCSF. The cards are color coated representing the different leagues at UCSF. League cards are issued at the captains meeting or by the first game of the season. You need to present an I.D. and your league card to the service desk and scorekeeper everytime you play in our league.
6 DO YOU NEED TO BE AFFILIATED WITH UCSF TO PLAY IN OR LEAGUES? back to top
  No, You do not need to be affilated with UCSF to play in our leagues. Everyone is welcome.
7 CAN I SIGN UP AS A INDIVIDUAL FOR THE LEAGUE AND HOW DOES IT WORK? back to top
  Yes, you can sign-up as a individual in our leagues. We refer to the individual as a "Free Agent". We notify the captain's of the teams that we have "free agents". We will create a team if we have enough "Free Agents" registering.
