PLAYERSback to top
A.  A team will consist of three (3) players.
B.  A team may start and play the first game with two (2) players. If they do not have a third by the end of the first game, then they will forfeit the match.
C.  Additional players may be added to the score sheet and enter the game as they arrive. New players must first pay the appropriate fee and be added to the roster before playing-NO EXCEPTIONS.
FORFEITSback to top
A.  After five (5) minutes, if a team is not present and ready to play, that team will forfeit the first game of the match. The team then has five more minutes to get their team together, or the team will forfeit the second game and the match.
B.  In order to claim a forfeit, a team must have the correct number of players present and ready to play.
C.  If neither team is able to field a team, a double forfeit will be declared.
D.  Teams that forfeit a contest without giving at least 48 hours notice to the Recreational Sports office will be charged a forfeit fee. This is to ensure that all teams have an opponent each week.
E.  The team which forfeited will receive a 3 as their SOG rating. The SOG rating will be changed to a 4 once the forfeit fee is paid. If the team has notified the office, then they will receive a 4.5 SOG rating for the match.
F.  The forfeit fee is $15 per forfeit. Forfeit fees must be paid at the Fitness and Recreation Desk before the team's next match (usually 7 days) or else they will not be allowed to play their next scheduled match.
G.  A second forfeit within the same sport may result in that team being dropped from league play and an additional forfeit fee charged.
H.  Forfeits may affect playoff seeding.
PLAYback to top
A.  The team on the left side of the schedule is home team and will have the choice of starting with the ball in the first game.
B.  Length of the Game:
  1. A match consists of the best two (2) out of three (3) games to twenty-four (24) points. The first team to reach 24 points is the winner of that game. NOTE: The supervisor may shorten games to allow following matches to start on time.
  2. A 3 (three) point shot is made if both feet are outside the three-point line.
  3. During play the team that gets scored upon will then take the ball out (losers out).
  4. If a third game is needed, a coin toss will determine which team starts with the ball.
  5. Half court is out of bounds.
C.  Clearing the ball
  1. The ball must be cleared on any change of possession.
  2. Clearing is defined as both feet and the ball being beyond the three-point line.
  3. A violation for not "clearing" the ball occurs when the team who did not clear the ball takes a shot. It is not a violation prior to them taking a shot. If the defense stops play prior to a shot being taken, the offense will retain the ball.
D.  Self-Officiated Game

FOULS
  1. Offense calls their own fouls, while the defense can call offensive fouls. Foul calls may not be disputed.
  2. All calls must be made immediately.
  3. After a foul called by the offense, the ball will be taken out at the top of the key. If the defense calls an offensive foul, the offense will remain in possession at the top of the key. This is to prevent the defense from unfairly calling fouls to gain possession of the ball. If the offense is committing fouls consistently, the defense should alert the supervisor.
  4. 19-Point Caution Rule: After a team reaches 19 points (or five points from the winning score declared by a supervisor) any blatant foul determined to stop an attempt at shooting will result in:
    1. The team that is fouled will declare a caution.
    2. Following that and until the completion of that game, any foul that is a deliberate attempt to stop the shooter from scoring will result in a one and one situation at the line. The fouled player will shoot the one and one at the line.
    3. Once the caution is declared, the rule applies to the team, not an individual player.
    4. In all cases, the ball will return to the offense whether or not one or both shot attempts are made.
  5. Supervisor's Warning Rule: If game becomes too rough, the supervisor on duty will blow the whistle and call an official's time out (1 minute). The game will then be placed under warning. After the time out is over and play resumes, there will be three options. 1- if players calm down and have a good attitude the final result of the game will stand; 2- if one team continues with the bad attitude, the game will be called and the team with the higher SOG will be the game winner (result will be given on the next day); 3-if both teams continue with the bad attitude, the game will be called and no winner will be declared and thorough follow up may result from Rec Sport Director (result will be given on the next day).
VIOLATIONS (traveling, double dribble, etc.)
  1. These calls must be made at the exact time of the violation and may be made by either the offense or defense.
  2. Half court is out of bounds.
  3. This may result in discussion. For irreconcilable stalemates, alternating possession will be used to resolve problems. If it is the end of the game or it will directly effect the outcome of the game, then it will be a "do or die" shot from the top of the key by the offensive team.
  4. A player that is tied up (both possess ball) by another player will result in alternating possession.
E.  Time-Outs
  1. Each team is allowed two (2) time-outs per match of twenty (20) seconds each.
F.  Jump Ball Situations
  1. Jump ball (or tied-up ball) starts with the defense and then alternates.
