WHAT SPORTS ARE AVAILABLE?back to top
Recreational Sports offers a wide range of sports and activities, including volleyball, basketball, futsal (indoor soccer), tennis, golf, rowing, ultimate frisbee, table tennis, footbag, badminton, squash, racquetball, and flag football. Towerball, a popular UCSF sport created here on campus, is like Ultimate Frisbee using a playground ball indoors. These sports are played as leagues, drop-in sports, clubs, or as clinics. Certain activities are not available every season. Please check the schedule for the current list of games.
I AM A BEGINNER...CAN I STILL PLAY?back to top
Yes! Everyone, regardless of his or her skill or athletic ability is welcome to play. Drop-in sports and clubs are an opportunity for people of all levels and backgrounds to come together and enjoy the spirit of non-competitive play. Our competitive leagues are recommended for intermediate-to-advanced-level players, though some beginner leagues are offered. You can enhance fundamental sports skills with our year-round clinics.
DO I NEED TO BE A UCSF STUDENT?back to top

No. All affiliations, including the general public, are invited to participate in Recreational Sports programs. UCSF students and Fitness & Recreation members do receive priority registration. Some restrictions may apply.

DO I NEED A TEAM TO PLAY?back to top
No. You do not need to have a team to participate in drop-in sports, clubs, or clinics. To participate in leagues, please contact Recreational Sports to sign up as a free agent.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?back to top
Fees vary according to your UCSF affiliation. Many of our programs are free for UCSF students and Millberry members. Drop-in sports fees range from $10 per session to $40 for five sessions. Some of our clubs are free, while others have fees per quarter. Costs for leagues range from $15-$60 per player. We also offer clinics that are free or as low as $25. Additional fees may apply.
I'M READY! WHERE DO I SIGN UP?back to top
Visit the Millberry Fitness Desk, located on the lower level of Millberry Union to sign up for clubs and clinics or to purchase a drop-in sports session or series card. You can download a registration form for the upcoming quarter's leagues online and drop it off at the Fitness Desk.
